2-step verification adds a second check to your login: besides your password you enter a 6-digit code that Elucidate sends to your phone. It is enabled on your account by Elucidate at your institution's request. When it is enabled, the setup starts automatically the first time you log in.
The verification method (SMS/voice call, or authenticator app) is defined by your institution administrator. This article covers SMS and voice call; for the authenticator app see 2-step verification with an authenticator app.
1. Log in to EFI
Go to efi.elucidate.co, enter your email address and password and click Continue. If you have not set a password yet, use the link in your welcome email first (see How to log in to the EFI Platform). The phone number setup appears right after the login.
2. Enter your phone number
- For SMS, enter your mobile phone number, including the country code.
- For voice call, enter a phone number you can answer immediately after clicking Continue.
Stay on the page while you wait for the code.
3. Enter the code
Type the 6-digit code you received by SMS, or that was read out to you on the call, and click Continue. Codes are valid for a short time only; if it has expired, request a new one from the same page.
Tick Remember this browser if you do not want to enter a code on this browser for the next 30 days.
4. Save your recovery code
On the last screen you receive a recovery code. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe: it is the only way to log in if you no longer have access to the phone number. Confirm that you have saved it to finish the setup.
Changing your phone number
Your phone number cannot be changed from within EFI. If you get a new number, create a support ticket and Elucidate will reset 2-step verification on your account so you can set it up again at your next login.
